The orthodontic appliances we use incorporate the latest technology for painless and successful tooth movements positioning us as leading London and UK Orthodontists whether using the modern Damon system braces.

At elleven orthodontics we provide our patients with the world’s most modern cosmetic braces treatments. You can see some before and after examples on our Adults or Childrens pages

clear bracketsCosmetic Clear Fixed Braces
Clear brackets and white wires create near invisible clear braces (invisibraces) - an aesthetic fixed appliance as once worn by Tom Cruise.

Lingual Braces
Lingual bracesLingual braces are different to other braces as they are fitted to the inside of the teeth. This makes lingual braces completely invisible braces. An invisibrace such as this are ideal for those who require orthodontic treatment but do not wish to compromise their appearance.

Damon System Braces
Damon braces are fast, fixed, orthodontic braces using low friction mechanics. These not only result in quicker treatment times but lighter forces providing a more comfortable treatment. By using Damon system braces, including the latest Damon Q braces and Damon Clear braces, the patient will experience less visits to the practice and 4-6 months less in their treatment time. We are among the leading orthodontists in the fitting of Damon System braces in London - just ring us to find out more or visit our specialist Damon orthodontic braces site at www.damonbraces.co.uk

Invisalign Braces

invisalign bracesInvisalign clear braces are the ultimate cosmetic brace for creating beautiful smiles! Invisalign is a revolutionary way for teeth straightening without obvious braces by using a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of wires and brackets. These clear braces move your teeth, week by week, millimetre by millimetre, to the desired position. Using 3D computer technology each of your Invisalign aligners is made to sit snugly over your teeth and unlike normal braces can be removed for eating, brushing and flossing. Invisalign is particularly suitable for adults and most teenagers. We are a leading orthodontist for invisibraces like Invisalign braces in London and the UK. You can read more about Invisalign braces at www.invisalign.com

Suresmile
Suresmile is a revolutionary, innovative and invisible cosmetic treatment that doesn't leave the patient for months with an unsightly brace. SureSmile has been shown to reduce treatment time by 40% compared to conventional orthodontics. Please visit our suresmile treatment page for more details.

(Orthognatic Surgery)

Jaw surgery may be necessary for those cases with a skeletal (jaw) discrepancy outside the limits of orthodontic treatment either because of their severity or lack of growth.
Patients seek jaw surgery for a number of reasons. The most common are the following:
  • Appearance
  • Eating difficulties
  • Speech
  • Traumatic bite
  • Temperomandibular joint dysfunction.
An integrated team approach is essential as this allows the surgeon and orthodontist to produce a coordinated treatment plan tailored to an individual patient's needs. This is best achieved by holding joint clinics where treatment can be discussed with the prospective patient.

If you are considering having braces and jaw surgery you may have a number of questions you would like answered.

Q If I need jaw surgery, why do I also require orthodontics?
A If the jaws are to be moved into the position correct position, it is important your teeth are moved so that they meet properly after surgery.

QWhat type of brace will I need to wear?
A Fixed braces are used prior to jaw surgery because they permit the most accurate positioning of the teeth prior to the operation.

Q Are the braces removed just before the operation?
A NO, the braces remain in the position during and after the operation for a number of months. During the operation they help the surgeon position the jaws correctly. After the operation they help the orthodontist fine tune the bite with elastics.

Q How will the operation be done?
A The majority of operations will be done from inside your mouth.

Q How long will I be in hospital for?
A This varies between 2-5 days.

Q How long will the overall treatment take?
A It usually takes 2- 2 1/2 years, but will vary on how severe your case is. Failed or cancelled appointments or repeated breakages will add to the overall treatment time.

What is snoring? Snoring is caused by partial closure of your airway during sleep due to the relaxation of the muscles in your neck. The soft tissues then vibrate to cause the sound of snoring.

Why does it happen?

Certain factors increase the chances of snoring:
  • Physiology- Anatomical nature of our airways
  • Sex- Men tend to put on upper body weight and therefore have more fat and soft tissue around the neck
  • Weight- If you are overweight then the amount of soft tissue around your neck increases
  • Age- As we get older the muscles in our throat get weaker
  • Lifestyle- Some people snore after drinking alcohol and taking sedatives
What is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)?
Some snorers "STOP" snoring and breathing for a few seconds and then this is followed by a gasp of air and/or snorting and choking. This can happen several times in the night. Every time we stop breathing this is known as Apnoea- our bodies get starved off oxygen. Most OSA victims have no memory of this night time breathing struggle. OSA sufferers do not have restful sleep and are often affected by daytime sleepiness and other health problems.

How does OSA affect your lifestyle and health? The lack of sleep can cause:
  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Poor motivation
  • High stress levels
  • Lack of energy and less effectiveness at work
In addition OSA also affects your health:
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease
  • Poor relationships with partner
What can we do to help @ Elleven?
A comprehensive questionnaire would be filled out along with a thorough clinical examination. From this the clinician would determine whether you suffer from 'simple snoring' or OSA. If you suffer from OSA you will be referred onto a 'Sleep Study' clinic where the diagnosis would be confirmed.

However if you suffer from 'simple snoring' you will be offered the option of having a customized Mandibular Advancement splint to be made. This is an intraoral device, which has been clinically proven to stop snoring and alleviate the symptoms of OSA. Improving your and your partner's quality of life.
